Another First for Duncan and DAX
The performance of newcomer, DAX Rush driver, Duncan Cowper exceeded
even his widest dreams in the first round of the 2006 Time Attack series, held
at Rockingham on Sunday 28th May.
With echoes of David versus Goliath, Duncan was able to achieve a blistering
lap time of 1 minute 30.185 seconds which was not only fast enough to secure
him first place in his RWD Class but also first place in the overall competition!!
The Time Attack series is open to all professionally and seriously tuned aftermarket cars and aims to establish which car is able to set the fastest lap time around a number of UK race circuits when competing under controlled conditions. The standard of vehicle preparation for the series is hugely impressive with many top teams clearly enjoying significantly generous race budgets.
Duncan's
decision to use the DAX Rush MC is in sharp contrast to the cars chosen
by the majority of Time Attack competitors. Other lighter weight vehicles such
as the Lotus Exige are represented in the series but the natural choice for many
is for bigger more powerful cars (many employing 4WD) with huge power outputs
extending well into the high hundreds and beyond.
When it comes to power-to-weight though, Duncan’s DAX Rush MC is no slouch and boasts a healthy 810bhp/ton, courtesy of a 410+bhp Hyabusa turbo conversion from Holeshot Racing.
Taken in context, Duncan's performance at Rockingham is unquestionably impressive.
His Rush MC has achieved a time that is a full half a second under that of last
year’s champion Gareth Lloyd – a feat that appears all the more remarkable when
it is realised that it was Duncan’s first competition outing in the new car and
his first ever trip to the Rockingham circuit!
He and the DAX Rush MC/Holeshot Racing Hyabusa Turbo now have much to live up to when they enter Round 2 of Time Attack, to be held at Silverstone on Saturday 17th June.
