DAX TOJEIRO DRIVERS

Great news for all Tojeiro drivers - the long awaited option of power-assisted steering is now available!!

Following its successful development on our groundbreaking 502cu in demonstrator, we are pleased to announce the arrival of a state-of-the-art EPAS system (Electric Power Assisted Steering) for the Tojeiro.

The new system is being made available as an option for all new builds but can also be used to upgrade earlier vehicles.

The components required are an EPAS column & lower shaft assembly, an electronic power control unit with piggybacked input command module and two special DAX mounting kits - one to facilitate installation of the EPAS column and one to allow installation of the standard Ford Sierra column switches and shroud.

The EPAS system adopted is a natural choice for the Tojeiro and offers a number of advantages when compared to a more conventional hydraulic system.

Power consumption is low while levels of sophistication are high - with the DAX system even including a dash-mounted control to allow the driver to fine-tune the level of assistance provided.

But perhaps the most important factor for the Tojeiro is that the working parts of the EPAS system are contained entirely within the column, avoiding any enforced compromise to steering geometry and/or lock.

At the heart of the Tojeiro's EPAS system are a modified GM column & lower shaft assembly and modified GM electronic power control unit.

To keep costs to a minimum we have included the option of supplying these items 'used', as well as 'new' - see separate sheet for full pricing details. [Please note that all parts described as 'used' undergo thorough inspection and testing as part of the DAX production process.]

Safety Footnote
In the event of a power failure, the EPAS system is designed to 'failsafe' and revert to operation as a normal non-power assisted column. Steering effort will obviously rise but the connection to the steered wheels will not be compromised.
