Dax @ Brands Hatch, September
2005
DJ Sportscars were at totalkitcar LIVE! at Brands Hatch recently and wowed the
crowd with their potent range of DAX 427 and Rush. This new all-action event
attracted a new audience as well as kitcar enthusiasts and the appeal of seeing
cars in action, with most offering demo rides was a strong one for many.
DJ's technical engineer Gary Sanders was kept busy all day giving rides
to potential customers in the staggering chest-beating 8.2-litre DAX 427 demonstrator
producing 550bhp from its Chevy 502ci big block! Many were new to the marque,
and attracted by the car's cool and sophisticated looks, while others were
keen to sample Gary's renowned driving skills. No one was left disappointed!
DJ's Sales Director Simon Johns said "This show was a great success
for us. People could actually see the cars in action on the Indy circuit. All
of our demo cars were kept busy all-day, with the DAX 427 having an amazing two-hour
queue!"
The show's creator and totalkitcar magazine editor Steve Hole said "The
idea of this event was to enable potential customers to see and even sample the
cars before buying rather than just in a static situation. The DAX 427 in particular
was an incredible sight, and highlights all that it is great about the kitcar
industry. It made the ground shake every time it thundered past!"
Indeed, in Gary Sanders' hands the green DAX 427 demonstrator was easily
the quickest car on the circuit and thanks to the colossal power from the Chevy
V8, and of course the patented camber compensation suspension it was cornering
faster and out-performing everything else on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit and
it was quite a sight to see him going past acclaimed Lotus Seven-inspired models
as if they were standing still. Clearly this is a Cobra replica that handles
like no other. Both Gary Sanders and Duncan Cowper reckon that the DAX 427 now
handles like a bigger Rush, a class leader in its own right, and a pretty amazing
testimony really.
Meanwhile Duncan was also kept busy demonstrating the Rush range, with his Hayabusa
turbo-powered example in particular proving popular. Duncan is also well known
for his driving abilities and his Rush delivers 777bhp per tonne and shows just
what it possible. Other Rush models on track giving demos included the company's
Rover V8-powered car and also other slightly less fierce bike engine installations
including Dylan Flook's Kawasaki ZX-12 version. It's worth remembering
though that you can also build a Rush using less powerful engines including the
Ford Pinto.
