Donington double for DAX

DJ Sportscars International - manufacturers of the DAX range of specialist
sports cars - plans a spectacular double launch at the Donington Kit Car Show
on 18/19 September.
The show will see the first appearance of the
latest DAX Tojeiro demonstrator and the first public announcement of a unique
new suspension modification for the IRS DAX Rush..the race-winning Camber
Compensation Kit.
Brian Johns, Managing Director of DJ said: "The
Donington show is always something special and we are always glad to be able to
show something new. This year, we think we have excelled ourselves. Our new
Tojeiro is a show stopper and the Camber Compensation Kit is unique."
The Tojeiro, resplendent in eye-catching metallic purple paint with tastefully
restrained black leather trim, has already featured in magazines, but this will
be its first of many public appearances. It has been built using all of the
benefits of DJ’s exhaustive SVA development programme.
All
current DAX models are designed to meet all SVA requirements and even older
versions can be updated using a specially produced range of DAX SVA parts. All
builders are steered through the test’s requirements by a comprehensive
‘Your DAX and the SVA Test’ guide. It is this attention to detail
that last year ensured that a DJ Sportscars DAX Rush became the first
amateur-built car to receive a Minister’s Approval Certificate from the
Vehicle Inspectorate’s main London Testing Centre, passing at its first
attempt.
Unlike the previous DAX Tojeiro demonstrator, the famous blue car
with its Supertube frame and big-block engine, the new car uses the top-selling
hooped ladder frame - developed under the watchful eye of John Tojeiro himself
- and is powered by a small-block Chevrolet engine. Even so, it still delivers
around 400hp.
Brian Johns said: "We decided to build something closer
to the sort of car most of our customers go for, rather than another
‘ultimate’ Toj. A car like this can show a saving of more than
£1,800 compared to our Supertube model - and the Supertube is already
highly competitively priced in our market sector. The hooped ladder frame
offers outstanding value for money and more than 95 per cent of customers
choose this option."

The innovative Camber Compensation Kit for the IRS Rush has been
developed over 18 months by chief designer Peter Walker following a brainwave
while relaxing on holiday. "We believe we have come up with something that
nobody has done before," said Peter, "and it seems to offer significant
improvements in overall grip.
"The kit has been tested on our Cosworth
demonstrator and is already proving highly successful on the track."
Last year’s DAX Driver of the Year, Duncan Cowper, is also testing the kit
on the fastest accelerating kit car in the world - his 400bhp Cosworth-powered
DAX Rush Quadra 4 x 4.
The Camber Compensation Kit maximises grip by
optimising each tyre’s footprint with the road. Minor front-suspension
modifications are also required to balance the extra grip from the rear. The
kit is available on new cars at an on cost of £550 plus VaT and, with
greater difficulty, can be retro-fitted to any IRS Rush.
