Sales soar as DAX open its doors
May 6, 2000
Business was the order of the day as DAX customers and owners
homed in on the marque's Harlow, Essex factory on Good Friday, 21 April, for a
repeat of last year's successful Easter Open Day.
For many, it was the
first chance to see the new red DAX Rush De Dion LX which has been featured in
a series of build articles on the DAX web-site at
http://www.daxcars.com - as well as the next generation
yellow 2 litre Pinto injection-powered car which is being built up to replace
it, for the red car has already been sold.
And, as always, there was
something completely new - a spectacular, lightweight, round-tube Rush chassis
designed to make the most of the latest trend in clubman-style sports cars..a
motorcycle engine.
It was also the day chosen by the re-launched DAX
Rush Owners' Club (the DROC) to launch its new web-site - "Adrenaline Rush" -
which can be found at http://www.rushowners.co.uk.
DROC Webmaster Duncan
Hurst said: "Although initially skimpy, the website is being expanded to
include club information, event news, technical help, buy and sell sections,
links and pictures. There is already a thriving DAX Rush e-mail list available
to all, club member or not, which can be subscribed to via a webpage at
http://www.se7ens.net/cgi-bin/majordomo."
The launch
of the web-site was welcomed by DJ Sportscars International 's Managing
Director Brian Johns. "We are delighted to see the club embracing internet
technology as it gears itself up for the 21st century and see this as a
significant new way for us to improve communications with our customers.
"And we have even more customers following the success of this open
day," said Brian. "We sold no less than seven cars on the day itself, with
follow ups leading to several more, and the parts and accessories counter has
never been busier. You could say we were 'Rushed' off our feet, although there
was also a great deal of interest in the Tojeiro and Kamala."
Designer
Peter Walker added: "It was particular nice to see two customer Kamalas on the
day - an immaculate yellow example which has completed several thousand miles
and is ready for a trip to Italy this summer, and a newly-completed car which
has just passed its SVA test and is being prepared for painting."
The
two Cosworth-powered Kamala supercars took their place among a host of customer
Rushes and Tojeiros - all classics in their own right - which braved the April
rain to attend. Their owners were rewarded with a rare sunny day for their
efforts.
