IRS Rush goes single-donor

Component-car innovators DJ Sportscars International has announced a significant upgrade to its ultimate DAX Rush IRS clubman-style sportscar - the world's fastest accelerating kit-car.

Following on from the success of the single-donor Rush De Dion model, lauched earlier this year, DJ has taken the opportunity to make its IRS model single-donor as well. Now all the major components needed to build a Rush for ultra-high performance road or competition use can be obtained from the ubiquitous Ford Sierra.

Brian Johns, Managing Director of DJ, said: "Our designer, Peter Walker, has achieved this breakthrough by adapting the front end from the De Dion car to work with the IRS chassis. This single-donor concept reduces the cost and complication of building an IRS car for our customers, with no loss of road-holding efficiency."

Builders of a single-donor IRS Rush can even make satisfactory use of the Sierra's vented disc brakes, although DJ will also supply a conversion to Cosworth 4 x 4 brakes for those seeking ultimate braking performance.

Other innovations, available on all Rush models, are a newly-designed, contoured dashboard which angles the instruments towards the driver - in line with the latest SVA requirements - and the option of carbon-fibre stone-guards to provide improved protection to the rear wings.

"We believe we produce the best cars in their class," said Brian, "but we are not resting on our laurels. This has been a year of innovation for the Rush, which has been reflected in increased sales and high-levels of customer satisfaction. We intend to maintain that momentum into the year 2000."

As with all DAX models, the single-donor IRS Rush is designed to meet all SVA requirements. Last year, a DJ Sportscars DAX Rush became the first amateur-built car to receive a Minister's Approval Certificate from the Vehicle Inspectorate's main London Testing Centre, passing at its first attempt.
