Export Successes
1 October, 2000
DJ Sportscars International achieved an export milestone with the hand-over of
the 50th DAX car sold by its Benelux agent.
John Kox of Hoogeinde 75,
B-2321 Hoogstraten, Belgium, has sold 50 cars - mostly Rush and Tojeiro models
- to customers in Belgium, The Netherlands and France in only five years as a
DAX agent.
When he collected the 50th chassis - a DAX Rush - from DJ
Sportscars Harlow, Essex, factory the company surprised him with a small
hand-over celebration.
DJ has achieved yet another export breakthrough
with the establishment of an agency to sell its classic DAX Tojeiro model in
central Europe.
Ivicek d.o.o. of Zagreb, Croatia, placed an intial
order for two DAX Tojeiro kits and has since ordered three more. The company
plans to sell five to ten Tojeiro's a year. Ivicek can be contacted

Next-gen Rush launched
The next generation of
the best-selling DAX Rush De Dion LX model has been launched - using the
fuel-injected, four-wheel disc-braked version of the Ford Sierra as a single
donor. The new yellow demonstrator made its show debut at Donington in
Leicestershire in September.
It was developed in response to pressure
from customers wishing to use the improved, fuel-injected version of the Ford
Pinto engine. Not only is it more powerful as standard, but it has the benefits
of a more modern engine management system and a stronger bottom end which
allows a higher rev limit. Following on from this development, we are now able
to offer a wider range of exhaust systems to cover not only the injected Pinto,
but also the double-overhead-camshaft Pinto and the Ford Zetec unit.
As part of our programme of continuously improving our products in response to
customer feedback, these are all-in-one welded systems which avoid the sealing
problems which can affect multi-part exhaust systems. Similar all-in-one
exhaust systems are also available for the Rover V8-powered Rush.
Summer sales boost
DJ topped off a summer
sales boom by selling nine cars in three days at the end of August. This
included a further three cars for the newly established agency selling our
classic DAX Tojeiro model in central Europe.
These three days were the
icing on the cake of a highly successful few months. We have been selling an
average of three cars a week.two DAX Rushes and one DAX Tojeiro. There is no
doubt that the export market has played a significant role, with Benelux agent
John Kox receiving his 50th car and setting up his own website. He has recently
held a second open day and more orders are coming in as a result.
His new
web-site can be found at http://www.daxbenelux.com and his e-mail address is
info@daxbenelux.com
Home market
sales are still the backbone of the business, however. Most of the cars we
build are still going to the UK. The downside of our success is that customers
are having to wait a little longer for their kits. We are selling them as fast
as we can build them and customers who would rather not wait are snatching our
demonstrators out of the showroom. The latest to go this way is the
newly-completed DAX Rush Efi.
